Make a rough sketch of your design on Butchers paper, decide what you will need. A top, two sides, a base, a back? It must have at least one shelf.
If you take all those pieces from one length of board what will be your cabinet’s maximum height?

Compare the maquette and the Butchers paper plan. Picture how the finished project will look.
Think about the joints you will use in making it. Think about the areas of greatest stress, where it will need to be strong and how it will look, aesthetically. Think about where you may need to place Housing joints and Rebate joints.
